Happy New Year! 2026 is set to be an busy one across the 4in10 Network as we set out to ensure that the Government's Child Poverty Strategy, published just before Christmas, brings real change for London's Children.

4in10 Policy Forum

The Policy Forum will next meet online on 12 February 10.30 - 12.00 and we will be discussing the Network's response to the Child Poverty Strategy, including the publication of our 'Action Plan' that many members have already contributed to the draft version of. Child Poverty Free Redbridge

Our first borough-specific event of 2026 will be held in Redbridge on 9 February, 10.30 - 12.30, in partnership with 4in10 member Adanna Women's Support Group. Calls to Action

London Assembly Housing Committee has launched an inquiry on 'Implementing and monitoring the Renters' Rights Act in London' and is calling for evidence. Deadline is 6 February.
Changing Realities is looking to recruit new participants who live in Lambeth or Southwark. Changing Realities is an online project working with over 100 parents and carers living on a low income across the UK, sharing experiences of life on a low income across a range of platforms. They aim to engage the public, media and government to drive much-needed change. If you or someone you work with might be interested email the team to get more details.

Child Poverty Free Redbridge

The purpose of this event is to:

Introduce 4in10 and explain how we can support you or your organisation in your efforts to tackle child poverty
Provide up to date information about child poverty in your community that will be useful to your work
Discuss the key and emerging issues for children, families and young people living on low incomes in Redbridge.
Explore ways we can collaborate to campaign for a child poverty free community in your local area
Facilitate an opportunity to network with others who share your aims.

The Policy Institute at KCL is hosting a discussion exploring child homelessness in the UK and practical solutions needed to end it at Bush House on 13 January, 6:30 to 7:45pm.

Funding Opportunities

A B Charitable Trust

The A B Charitable Trust makes grants to smaller charities registered in UK with annual income of between £150k and £1.5m. Funding priorities for the main 'Open Programme' are the Human Rights Framework, Access to Justice, The Criminal Legal System and Penal Reform and Migrants and Refugees. Insofar as possible they provide unrestricted funding. The Human Rights Framework priority has a deadline of 30th January 2026

Charles S French Charitable Trust

The principal objective of the Charles S French Charitable Trust is to provide grant giving support to a wide range of charitable activities, primarily within Essex and North East London, whilst maintaining and developing the value of the Trust’s investments and assets.

The deadline for the next round of funding is 12th January.

D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust

The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust funds United Kingdom Registered Charities operating in the UK in the fields of the advancement of the arts, health and medical welfare and environmental protection or improvement – please read specific areas of interest and priorities for support in our Downloadable Guidelines

The Trustees will consider applications for core costs or projects and are very conscious of the work involved in applying for a grant and encourage charities to consider whether their work aligns with the Trust’s priorities for the next three years before submitting an application.

The final closing date for the submission of online applications for the next trustee meeting is at 11:59pm on the 21st January 2026

We always encourage members to show our logo where possible, so everyone knows that you are part of a movement that is working for a child poverty free London.

You are welcome to pass this newsletter onto your networks. We welcome new members and although much of what we do is available to members and non-members, members are the first to know and get first chance to book training and so on.

As well as your reports, news and data, please send us information about small local grant givers, discounts and vouchers available, new support services, in fact anything that might help alleviate the impact of poverty in small ways and support other organisations to do their work. We will continue to demand systemic change but hope that these tips will be of immediate use. Anything you can share send it our way!
