Coffee Morning: Warm Welcome Project

4in10 Open Coffee Mornings are free, fun and open to everyone who shares concern on issues relating to growing child poverty in our capital. Open Coffee Morning sessions are thematic, usually online and with one overarching area which frames the discussion. However, the sessions are truly flexible; attendees can contribute, participate, and engage in ways and on areas that matter to them.

At our next Coffee Morning, we are excited to be joined by Tessa Kirby from National Energy Action to discuss their ongoing Warm Welcome project.

The Warm Welcome project is supporting households with children under 5 years, or where there is an expectant parent. Research shows that changes in family make up, especially in new young children entering a household, make families more vulnerable to entering or increasing fuel poverty indicators.

Through this project, the NEA are delivering community events / advice sessions to share information and empower families to increase their knowledge of energy efficiency and where to find further support. This could be delivered at a regular parent meet up or group, or through bespoke or existing events or surgeries and we can include energy efficiency related freebies and takeaways for attendees at these events.

In addition, NEA also have some crisis funding available to support families you feel need some additional financial support with items to improve energy efficiency in their home or keep their family warm. This could include for example: home or kitchen appliances, bedding, blankets, warm children’s clothing. However, this is not limited, and we could consider other items through this fund if you feel it would support the household to stay warm. Applications can be made for purchases of £40-£60 per family.

The project is running until April 2025. If you have any questions about any of the above or would like further information, please contact Tessa.kirby@nea.org.uk

A virtual meeting link will be emailed closer to the date of the event.
