Child Poverty Free Community: Croydon

4 in10 is hosting an in-person two-hour event for current or prospective members of London's Child Poverty Network.

The purpose of this event will be to provide local organisations and residents across Croydon with up to date information on the context of child poverty across the borough. We will highlight growing or emerging challenges as well as provide an overview of the training and support that 4in10 provides and our current activities. There will also be an opportunity to meet or catch up with local organisations and get to know other local organisations in the network or what groups might be working on similar issues elsewhere across neighbouring communities in London.

We are extremely grateful to our friends in Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) for hosting us and to Steve Phaure and Shalina Alabaksh at CVA for supporting the planning of this event. 

We will also be providing a light lunch and drinks.

First Hour-Information and Networking

`Provide an overview of data, thematic issues in relation to child poverty across Croydon and how this relates to city-wide and national child poverty indicators.

Include a brief overview of the 4in10’s offer in terms of training, networking, information and campaigning

Second Hour-Strategy and Support

`An open discussion around what attendees are doing themselves, what they hope to do

`Consider how 4in10 can help either connect them to other organisations, support them as an individual organisation and what perspectives/work/issues that we can relay to those in government and/or others in the network

Main purposes of the event:

• Provide some information that organisations can use in their frontline work, fundraising and campaigning

• Facilitate networking amongst local groups and individual advocates

• Explore ways to collaborate to campaign for a child poverty free London

• Make 4in10’s offer of support clear and accessible
