Meet The Team
4in10 is an independent campaigning organisation hosted by Quaker Social Action and generously funded by Trust for London and City Bridge Foundation.
We have three members of the team and hundreds of 4in10 members. Our team consists of our Strategic Project Manager who manages the team and undertakes policy and campaigning work, our Community Outreach Officer who supports our members, publishes the newsletter and manages the website, our Communications and a Research and Learning Officer who supports the training, events, and research activities of the charity. Between the team and our network we continue to work together in a wide variety of ways to challenge child poverty in London.
4in10’s strength lies in it’s membership. We understand and recognise the need to be directed by our members regarding the issues we need to focus on. We host regular events including our Child Poverty Free Communities events and hold an annual consultation to identify emerging concerns and to highlight where we should keep up pressure for change. Members provide us with information to disseminate and we see value in sharing best practice and knowledge and in encouraging and enabling cooperation and learning within our sector.
STAFF
Katherine Hill
Strategic Project Manager
I bring a wealth of campaigning and policy experience. I'm joining 4in10 after serving for several years as a specialist on the Joint Committee on Human Rights in parliament, and before that I have had a number of human rights policy and campaigning roles at Age UK, Scope and The Children’s Society.
Maddie Henson
Community Outreach Officer (currently on sabbatical)
I joined the 4in10 team after having worked for most of my working life in Local Politics. I bring a wealth of experience in the voluntary and public sectors and have specialised in Children’s Services. I am mum to two boys and have a life long commitment to creating a better world for our children.
Emily Barker, PhD
Senior Policy Researcher
I have been researching children’s lives through the lens of human rights and everyday experiences across the UK for over 10 years. My research and policy work has covered a wide breadth of issues including the impact that homelessness, war, cultures of play and family life, international migration and early years education has on children’s lives in the UK. In my current role, I engage in collaborative, grass-roots-led approaches to research and impact analysis so I’m able to get to the heart of complex policy issues as they impact the everyday worlds of children experiencing poverty in London. Having worked in the UK third sector since 2017, I’m passionate about working within and across the sector to advocate and collaborate with local communities to shape future policy.
